Participation in this event will
earn the student 2 credits and this activity will start on the first day of the
holy month of Ramadan and end on the last day of the month.
Kids who are under the Islamic age of
Taklif are invited to participate in this Ramadan Challenge, as follows:
1-Girls under 9 lunar years
according to the Islamic Hijri calendar.
2-Boys under 15 lunar years
according to the Islamic Hijri calendar, OR if they reach Buloogh beforehand
due to appearance of physical signs.
Purpose of this challenge is
two-fold:
1-Prepare the young children to
fasting in the holy month of Ramadan (sunrise to sunset), before they reach Taklif
age. Early preparation is better than facing challenge at the time of
obligation.
2-Enable the children to share in
the spirit of fasting of the holy month and to reap the benefits of fasting
alongside the elders in their family. Fasting is also a means of behavioral
discipline that teaches a person how to control desires and put God first.
CHALLENGE: To Fast a minimum of 24 days in the month of Ramadan, per Islamic definition of fasting. Intention
should be for the sake of getting closer to Allah the Almighty.
**Winners will be awarded at the the conclusion of the holy month.
Registration nominal fee for this program
is $15 (non-refundable) which will be a sign of your commitment to the challenge. Your contribution in this holy month will be sent as a donation directly to
charity organization, Kareema Care, and will be allocated specifically to
support a campaign for Those in Need.
Instructions
Reporting and tracking of fasts
will take place via the Uloom Zainabia website. Every student or their
parent/guardian will login in their accounts (on their behalf) at the end of each
day and register whether they fasted that day or not. An honor system is
expected of all individuals entering the data into the Ramadan fasting tracker
and this is a trust in front of God. Timliness of entries is also expected.
